List of Words and Sentences in the Arabic course; from the first to the second checkpoint!

Hi there! I thought it'd be useful to create a second post of all the words and sentences (at least all that I encountered) taught from the 1st to the 2nd checkpoint, seeing as how popular my last post was (https://forum.duolingo.com/comment/32975522). Hope you find this helpful! Let me know below! And please let me know if there are any mistakes as I'm not a native Arabic speaker. Thanks! :-)

I've also added all the words taught to the Duolingo wiki. Feel free to take a look at that as well as I've done the words up to and including Hobbies 1: https://duolingo.fandom.com/wiki/Arabic_Skill:Hobbies

Checking back again, just would like to note (again) that Shadi (شادي) is actually a male's name. There is a feminine counterpart though which is Shadyah (شادية).

Just a bonus here: Shadi means the one singing with a nice voice.

Thanks again! I didn't realise that. I'll change it now as I thought it was a female name .

Also means wedding in Persian and Urdu.

I didn't go through all the list but I've noticed some points here:

  1. I would translate (amazing) as [مُدْهِشْ] (Mod-hish) rather than [ممتاز] - This word is mostly used to mean (excellent) and not (amazing) actually.

  2. The name (David) is (Dáwúd) - [داوود] and some sources prefer to write it as [داوُد], but I'm a proponent for the first one because there is a long vowel when we say the name, so there must be double (w) sound [وو]. However, we never write it as [دَوود] - the D here is too short and it's not like how we say the name.

Nice thanks for this. I'll send a bug report to Duolingo so hopefully they will fix this. You can send them one as well here: https://support.duolingo.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

Thank you for putting this together!

DuoMe collects the words designated as "vocabulary", but that's not all the words we see in the lessons, and certainly not the sentences. Thank you!

I'm sure this is great for some, but I need more, much more vocabulary. My husband is a native speaker who has taught our kids spoken Arabic. Most of them have learned to write in Islamic school. I've built some Arabic understanding peace meal while visiting native Arabic speakers, from books, & the net, but I lack vocabulary to grasp the conversations around me.
