Streak and Chart times not aligned
This happened to me yesterday and today as well, but never before. I go online and see my streak still has its green tick, even though I haven't done any exercises today. This stays after a refresh of the website.
The number next to the flame is a two, I only noticed I covered it when I had already uploaded the file.
Edit: I also just did an exercise, my streak is still at two even though it now should be at three
Edit2: Title changed by suggestion
Something definitely seems off.
It could possibly be a timezone issue, where you local computer time (which is what the graph is based off of) is different from the streak time (the timezone you were in when you first created your account).
I haven't confirmed it yet, but I think you can check your streak timezone by right-clicking the web page, click view source, and search (I used ctrl f) for timezone.
Oh, I think I get what's up:
My timezone is Europe/Berlin (I created my account in Switzerland). I'm living in Brazil atm, so duo puts midnight at 7 PM. Considering that it actually makes sense that I still have the tick (I probably got on yesterday after 7). I didn't know the graph goes by my pc time, so that makes sense as well now. I guess the mystery is now "Why did I never notice that something is weird?" I didn't particularly have a routine before, I just went online and checked if I had a streak. I guess once the numbers go bigger you stop noticing :P
Are you saying the flame checkmark and the graph are now going by two different times?
That appears to be the case, yes. The flame last updated some time in the evening yesterday (by my calculations probably 7 PM), after which I did an exercise and got it checked. When I logged on today the graph had continued to the next day as visible in the picture above (Di being German for Tuesday).
I assume that the flame updated at 7 PM yesterday, then I got some XP which were still counted as Monday's and then at midnight the graph updated. That means, some of the XP I made on Duo-Tuesday (but my Monday) are shown under Monday.
This problem should only occur to people who use Duo in an other than the one they created their account, and only if they use Duo between local midnight and origin midnight (so in my case between 7 PM and 0 AM)
I wonder if you might want to change the title of your post to Streak and Chart times not aligned or some such. This is the first time I've heard of that happening. I imagine it could be confusing to Duolingoers (It is to me!).
You know I know my stuff on maintaining streaks :)
This is the way it's always worked (even going back to the coin stacks). If you want a reference, I could probably pull one up, but it may take a bit.
@wazzie, indeed you do! I almost exclusively use my laptop and I haven't switched time zones since opening my Duolingo account. Any ideas on why DL hasn't synchronized these two?
Same with me.. I've traveled, but managed to stay within my timezone... I just read a lot of troubleshooting forums when I first joined :)
No idea why they don't sync, I'm sure it's a programming thing that I wouldn't understand. They never indicated any plans to fix this.
It's my opinion this is why they did away with in the new format, and only recently added it back for some users (I still don't have it yet)
