Changes often implemented with no notice
I wanted to mention that I've noticed during the past few days that my streak gets lost when it seems like it shouldn't. I think I've figured out now that it's because I have to get all my points for a day from actual lessons and not from testing out. Does that sound right? So I assume that's a change that was made but never announced.
Another change that occurred recently which it took me a while to understand was that, when testing out, only up to 20 points are awarded for a section, no matter how many points that section is worth. Personally, I don't understand the point of such a change. Still, if it is deemed necessary, why not make users aware of the new way it works?
I love Duolingo, so please don't take my criticisms the wrong way. This is as much a question as it is a criticism, anyway. But, in general, please don't just change things without telling people you're doing it. It leads to all sorts of unnecessary confusion.
This is great, thanks, but how would a person know this without somehow being lucky enough to stumble across this link or have someone like you share it long after they figured out something was up? It would be nice if maybe a pop-up window might appear to explain what is going on the first several times after the change is made. Otherwise, people just end up being confused.
It was "Stickied" at the top of the forums for a long time. At least a week or two. People certainly had the chance to see it.
Yes, testing out was limited to 20 xp to, for example, disable people abusing this feature to get ahead in the leagues (e.g., setting a language back to zero to test out in all sessions to get fast a lot of points)
It would be nice if their would be a general announcement of changes that impact learning or progress in a target language - in particular if it effects streaks or lingots or xp ...
It seems there was another change to xp in general, at least I don't get any extra xp for correct answers in a row any more (on the web version). It's always 10 xp, the green bar doesn't even count correct answers any longer. Has anyone else noticed this? It's like this since motivational-Duo pops up in the middle of a lesson practice.
