App shuts down
Three times today while using Duolingo, the app completely shuts down and the screen goes black. When I reopen the app, it starts a new lesson instead of picking up where it left off. I tried turning off my phone but that didn’t fix it. Help!
I have been having this problem for more than two weeks. I eagerly awaited the latest iOS app update (which dropped today, hoping the bug that caused my app to spontaneously quit half way through a lesson would be fixed. Sadly, the app is STILL NOT FIXED. I cannot get through a single lesson in Duolingo on my iPhone X running the latest version of iOS. I'm very upset that I'm paying for this app, and the app is not working properly on my iPhone. Please, Duolingo team, fix this bug promptly so I can continue my language training.

I finally uninstalled my vpn app on my iPhone that I was using for protection and I was able to finally get through several lessons uninterrupted. Maybe too early to tell, but I strongly suspect the vpn. So now I have to choose between convenience of being able to do lessons offline & on the app vs. protection. Anyone running an adblocker or antivirus or any or type of protective app?
Yes - i am runnin “privacy pro” and have observed that the crash seem related to blocking “doubleclick.net” and “doubleclick.com”. The moment i stop blocking these 3’rd party trackers, the app is running smoothly. The web version. Does note call doubleclick . The calls are being made even without running a course and also prevents downloading for off-line use. Has been reported but not fixed in most recent version
I have the same problem on my Android phone. I don't have the problem when I use my cellular data allowance for my connection. However, when I try to use WiFi, whether at home or at free WiFi spots in public, the app shuts down after a few lessons and sends me back to my home screen. When I reopen the Duo app, it starts over rather than picking up where it left off. After reading other posts here and by users of apple phones, I think it has something to do with other programs interrupting the app, which apparently occurs on WiFi but not during the use of cellular data. (That said, some users have reported the problem even while using celluar data.) I considered deleting all of my other apps if I do not absolutely need them since learning languages on my phone was one of my primary reasons for even getting a smart phone. I could delete email and everything else that I can use on my home computer. However, other users say that they have tracked the problem to interruptions caused by doubleclick brand ad interruptions. If that is so, the interruptions might continue even with only Duo as an app. I have been despising my smartphone in general for quite a while now because it automatically connects to WiFi spots even though I have had my WiFi turned off. So, I chose to "forget" every past WiFi connection in my phone. I would be similarly willing to delete every app for the sake of getting the Duo app to work properly, but I have doubts that it would solve the problem.
