not surprised that it means that lol

I also haven't heard that one before, but it was easy to guess the meaning, since in German it's (Voll)rausch= state of intoxication induced by alcohol or drugs.

It is because Germans did their best to erase Poland from maps and as a result of being under occupation for well over century, we have tousands of German words in our dictionary and don’t even know that they are German. Rausz is one of them. But the list is really long.

Szal, frajer, typ, szwagier, kształt, malować, flaszka, tankować, urlop, plac, kumpel, sznurek, gwałt, wihajster, lajsnąć sobie, ratusz, szuflada, smak, szpic, szlifować, cukier, fartuch, kubrak, sztyft, sztynks, burmistrz, felga, majster, szablon, wafel, zegar, (być) wart, granica - no można wymieniać i wymieniać.

It is definitely NOT because "Germans did their best to erase Poland from maps". Swedish tried, too. Don't forget about peaceful cooperation. And XIV-cent. establishments of cities. And Polish Jews who spoke yeddish which is quite similar to German.

They did. I was born near German border. I’m Pole but my last name is from German origin. German is my second language. Some of my friends when we banter, say to me that I’m half German, lol. Anyway, Germans were our enemies since X-th century but they didn’t manage to eradicate us from map (well, not for longer than 123 years...!). Since ever, Poles were treaten by Germans like worse kind of human beings. Not surprising, taking under consideration that they are descendants of Visigoths, who kicked ass of Roman Empire long time ago. They’ve burnt Rome to the ground for two times, if I recollect properly. Now it obviously changed, with world getting more civilised. But saying that Germans didn’t want to conquer Poland every single century since 1000 years and it didn’t affect our language as we know it nowadays, is complete ignorance.

Not that I’m stating anything against modern Germans, I’m merely stating historical facts. I wouldn’t be learning their language if I’d had anything against them as a nowadays’ people. Deutsch is quite beautiful language, ziemlich schöne Sprache. ;)

(niezły topic swoją drogą, pod pytaniem o chodzeniu na rauszu;)

"Lajsnąć sobie" - boże, tak dawno to słyszałem, że już zapomniałem, że takie słowo w ogóle istnieje.

August 13, 2019

I think it's a little bit old-fashioned - I haven't heard this one for a long time ...

July 22, 2019

Takie określenie słyszy się częściej na ....."Górnym Śląsku"......( Katowice, Zabrze Bytom ).... :)
