A Re-Introduction

Hej alla! Having recently taken on some new roles in the Duolingo community, I figured that I should re-introduce myself to all of the users in the forums. My name is Super-Svensk, and I have been active on Duolingo for a little over five years. Some of you may know me from the Swedish Word of the Week posts that I upload every Monday. Last month, I became a Forum Moderator and Course Contributor for the Swedish for English speakers course, and I am looking forward to continuing to answer your questions in the forums, continuing maintenance on the existing course, and hopefully (hopefully, no promises yet!) beginning work on a new version of the course sometime in the near-to-distant future. I have experience teaching Swedish both formally and as an informal tutor, and I am hoping to bring this experience to the contributor team as much as possible. Aside from Swedish and English, I am fluent in French and proficient in German, Dutch, Norwegian, and Portuguese. Outside of Duolingo, I enjoy playing piano and clarinet, as well as composing music! Feel free to reach out with any feedback on the course or any questions!

Hallo! I am actively studying Swedish on a daily basis. What things do you think you would be able to add to the course? I hope something like stories or idioms and sayings. I think you've done a great job on answering questions so far. With love from Nederland.

@Super-Svensk
Welcome back!!
I've been on Duolingo about a month.
I reset my German tree last week.
I'm from the U.S.A. and speak only
English.

I would like to know. How far is
Sweden from Germany?

Also, when work such as you're
doing, to build (or rebuild) a
language tree in Duolingo, is
set upon, are you doing this
as a paid employee or as an
unpaid volunteer?

Do Duolingo screen you for
credentials before enlisting
your services?

Thanks in advance.

You probably want a answer from Super-svensk, but I stumbled upon this and now the answer. Swedish is different from German in a lot of ways, but their are from the same "family" Germanian languages. The grammar is quite different, but there are a lot of similar words and as a native Swedish speaker who've been learning German for a couple of years I must say it's not that hard if you know one of the languages.

Excited to hear about these new developments Super-Svensk! Are there others on the Swedish Duolingo team who will (hopefully) be helping you with the potential V2?
