makua or mākua?
I've noticed that I've seen both spellings for the word in different questions for the same lesson (O and A), and both are used when expressing the plural (i.e. I've seen both nā mākua and nā makua).
Is this an error with the questions? Can someone who knows the language tell me which is correct? If both are correct, what is the difference?
Yes, this is an error with the questions. "nā mākua" / "he mau mākua" (plural) always has the kahakō over the first "a" in "makua."
Aloha e Circlejour, there was a mistake in an exercise where "nā makua" was shown as the answer, rather than "nā mākua". I believe it should be corrected now, but if you see something like that again, please do report it in this discussion thread, and I'll check it out.
