What is the difference between "i kēlā me kēia lā" and "i nā lā a pau"? When do you use one or the other?

When were we supposed to have learned what must be an idiom - "that and this day"?? I was looking for the (a) and (pau) bubbles, but they were missing. Nothing else made sense so I figured they'd tell me in the Correction. But this was SO far from anything I was expecting!
