I wrote "Ternyata dia tidak datang." Does it make a difference where "ternyata" is placed?
In this context "tidak datang" could also mean "did not come"; however, since the English sentence uses "is not coming" ("tidak akan datang"), the Indonesian translation should read: "Dia ternyata tidak 'akan' datang".
"Dia ternyata tidak tiba" should also be accepted
Dia ternyata tidak tiba = It turns out that he does not arrive.
Sounds a little weird.
Maybe I'm being unnecessarily explicit, but shouldn't "Ternyata dia tidak sedang datang" also be acceptable?
