Small Tokens of Motivation
See, I have no one to talk to about this so I decided to make a post here. Maybe someone feels the same way I do or has something to share. Or maybe no one cares, at least, I said it.
I've been studying German for a while, jumping a few days sometimes when feeling so. Learning something completely new passes the feeling like we are crawling again, the process of associating each word, building sentences and memorizing it all.
Last week, I bumped into a Spotify playlist for German Pop and since then, everyday I feel more and more motivated to keep going. As small as it may seem, I've recognized a few words in the songs and this gave me an enormous push to keep moving forward.
To know nothing and suddenly start to have a glimpse of what's going on feels like magic.
Crawling is no longer an option, gotta walk from here on. Hope you guys find your motivation too.
Wir können alles lernen.
Would like to recommend Mark Forster if you don't already know him. He has many catchy songs that are helping me memorize words.
If you're looking for some more good bands, I recommend Die Ärzte, Wir sind Helden, Sportfreunde Stiller, and Xavier Naidoo to name a few. There are a few more I came across when I lived in Germany, but I have forgotten them. Also some movies I am sure most will know: Lola Rennt, Der Krieger und Die Kaiserin, (anything by Tom Tykwer is good). I love Benno Fürmann and Franka Potente, so anything with them is usually a good flick.
