I think I have a Gold Crown now. I hope you guys get a Nobel Peace Prize.
Duolingo is a perfect antidote for the poison our government is creating at our Texas border. I am a 75-year-old Texan and feel remiss for not having taken seriously enough my opportunities for learning the language of our nearest neighbors while in high school and college. I now have a four-year streak underway (with only a few lapses I was able to save with Streak Freeze) and can communicate a little each week with Spanish-speaking friends in their language. My social environment does not allow immersion but I think that will come my way in the future. And I will welcome it.
In the meantime, Duolingo provides me with a daily opportunity for a few minutes of immersion in Spanish. In those four years, I have seen Duolingo grow by offering ever more sophisticated techniques for encouraging and teaching languages. Your subtle inducements to persist and grow have been very effective in my own case and I assume for many others.
I was fooled at first by your funky, cartoonish look. But now I know what a powerful tool for learning you offer the world free of charge. You clearly see this as a mission. I have become a great admirer of your work. I hope to see your efforts nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize. Your work is worthy.
Maybe, in the meantime, I will some day be able to weigh in with a paid subscription. What you do is so well done and so important that I am beginning to feel the same guilt that turned me into a public radio subscriber.
Hi, this is the Educators forum, for teachers who use "Duolingo for Schools" in their classroom. Could you please edit your original post and use the drop-down list at top left to change the topic from "Educators" to "Duolingo"? That way it won't clutter up the Educators forum, and your post will be seen by other Duolingo enthusiasts.
Also please remove your age from your post; users are not allowed to share personal information. There are a lot of minors here and while you are of age, it sets a bad example for young people who might be at risk. Thanks for understanding :)
Good for you, sir! You make me feel there is hope in the world. I agree that this post should be moved to the regular forum section.
