A FEATURE you guys at Duolingo should DEFINITIVELY add
I know Duo has a reputation of not listening to us but I still have hope that maybe someone from the team has a good sleeping night and wakes up with the urge to show us the other face.
We should have the option to bookmark people's comments. I lost the count of how many times someone comment helps me.
People really take their time and energy to write good answers so we should also be able to save them so we can easily consult anytime we want.
What do you guys think? Is it just me that thinks this would help?
Edit: Some of you guys in comments are confusing my suggestion with the ability to follow forum posts. Followings discussions is nowhere near the same thing as saving specific comments to which you can access altogether.
Every comment will cause you to follow the conversation unless you opt out. My experience is that I get context-free comments that are not helpful at all, sometimes from a discussion I contributed to months ago and have since forgotten.
I used to get a notification when someone replied to my comment, and I found that helpful. That function seems to have been removed. And there doesn't seem to be any way to search for my comments either.
No, this is not similar at all. Upvotes are designed to show agreeance between two parties. Bookmarking would save the comment in a folder for you. Kinda like a link you would access inside your profile "Saved Comments". Something like this.
Maybe I'm not understanding you fully, but I believe Duolingo already has this option. At the top of this post there is a Follow Discussion button. Press this button and you will be able to follow posts in the forum.
Following conversations don't save specific comments. It would be really helpful to have something like a personal notebook made of saved comments. Discussions not always have clear titles and don't seem as the proper way for doing this.
A simple bookmark icon next to each comment would give us a better way to collect other people's comments.
Also following conversations results in your email being continuously spammed. Mine shows 999+ messages because of that. At some point I couldn't keep up with reading what actually interests me, like answers to my own questions or new questions to my own answers.
We should have an option to get emails only for comments addressed directly to our own comments/sub-thread.
You could also turn off notifications for discussions in the settings.
True. But then there won't be any way to know if someone answered my questions etc. Right now it's a matter of finding the time to look into that ocean of emails, so at least there is a possibility.
As WarrenBrow3 wrote somewhere else in this thread, I also remember we had the option to be notified only for replies to our own comments. That was useful.
Guys, read.. He knows he can follow discussion but he just wants to save specific comments that are actually helpful. Thumbs up Victor. Let's hope someone from Duolingo will see this.
I had the same issue that I solved by taking notes (on paper). I understand that it is not the feature you are asking for but if it sounds interesting to you I encourage you to give it a try.
I bookmark helpful posts in my bookmark 'languages' folder of that particular language. But I don't know if you could do that using your phone.
This seems good. I'll start doing it too. Better than having to follow discussions and forgetting what's in it that interested me. At least I can name the bookmark my way.
