Mandatory streak post: 4 Year-Long Streak
A few days ago, I reached 1,460 days on the same Duo streak, meaning my streak has reached it's forth birthday.
wipes away sentimental tear They grow up so fast!
Thank you so much to Duolingo and their staff for giving me the opportunity to learn any of the unique and beautiful languages on this app at no expense. I hope to continue learning for years more.
Congrats, but four years is actually 1461 days---don't forget that pesky leap year!
I'm coming up on that same milestone myself! Duo has changed so much since then.
I'll admit, I forgot leap years existed. Oops!
And congrats on that! Indeed, it has changed so much these past few years.
technically there are spans of up to seven years without a leap year, but only on special occasions. For example, the year 2000 should have been a leap year but it was not, since every 20th or so leap year is actually not a leap year.
Thats just some food for thought
2000 was a leap year. In the Gregorian calendar centuary years not divisible by 400 are not leap years so 1900 wasn't a leap year.
Does that mean there are leap centuries as well? Cause usually it would be every 4 years. Does that mean 2096 would be a leap year and then the next one would be 2104, since 2100 is not divisible by 400? Interesting
Haha garpike, I see what you did there!
We shall all have mirth when your Forth too meets its firth, four days forth.
¡Qué genial es esto! Tenga un lingot, por favor. Sólo estoy impresionadísimo.
Wow, how many languages can you actually speak fluently now because of Duolingo?
Duolingo alone won't make you any fluent and be able to understand native recorded content / fast spoken speech or to be able to speak and to freely express your own thoughts very well.
It is the beginning...not the final end.
It's a very good beginning, but you will need to branch out and push yourself to develop further indeed.
Thomas.Heiss, I read somewhere your a windsurfer and kiter? Dunkerbecks classes in Grand Canaria is good. Very good.
But what really made me a decent windsurfer back in the day, was all the times the Hookipa and Pozo waves almost killed me... hehe
I went to Italy having done nothing but Duolingo Italian and 3 total Meetups for Conversational Italian (I did play some online conjugation games as well) and I was able to get by and understand anybody who wanted me to understand them, I even managed to use the subjunctive conditional correctly when we had to go to the outskirts of Florence to get our cell phone fixed! Yes I did look up electrical techno words from Google translate and I practiced explaining the problem with my imaginary techie all the way out there on the bus, but I did it!!!!
Kudos. No, belay that. Need something stronger for this kind of streak. Plaudits and raves for you.
MikeyV explained it well, but I wanted to dig deeper because it sounded Greek to me...
"fame, renown, glory," 1799, probably originally in university slang, from Greek kydos "glory, fame," especially in battle, "a poetical word, found chiefly in the Iliad and Odyssey" [Century Dictionary], literally "that which is heard of," ...
Congratulations! Great work and persistence. I will be joining you in 50 days! Love Duolingo, what a wonderful tool that opens up fascinating new worlds to us.
Very impressive! Congratulations! I have here account for a while but just get started second approach to Spanish :-) hope I will be more patient than last time.
Felicitations! Wonderful accomplishment, definitely a milestone. Here's to Duolingo and many more years to come!
Congratulations! Makes my one and a quarter years seem tiny. Keep it up!
It really does become part of your morning routine. Well done. Felicidades!
It surprises me that I find maintaining a streak to be motivating. I've lost streaks of over a year a couple of times, usually due to travel, but I am getting up toward 700 again. Congratulations on keeping with it.
What the HEEEEELL! You are SO GOOD!!! <3 My neverending awe and congratulations, mellon nin.
I was going for one year, but our internet went out and I lost my streak. :'-(
That's actually impressive. Good job and keep up the great work. I'm even feeling inspired now haha!
Damn, that's pretty cool especially for me because my best streak is of 3 weeks :( :)
I got kinda startled, I read it as "Mandatory streak LOST" :D Well done, keep it up!
That's amazing, really well done. May you have many more happy years of learning. (I've only just gained my first golden owl, and it's impressive to see how long you have stayed with Duo.)
Εγω ξεκινησα να χρησιμοποιω αυτην την εφαρμογη προχτες θελοντας να μαθω ιταλικα και εχω μαθει ηδη παρα πολλα γιαα δυο μερες!
what language have you learned and if you are learning english, is it hard to learn for whatever language you originally speak?
I accomplished 1155 days streak ~3,16 year. But I see no big difference in my knowledge maybe I didn't do much more speaking about learning completely new language. And is it a fault trying to learn too much languages at the same time? I see many people just try a few lessons of something new and come back to one to master it as much as possible using duolingo is it right? But I guess doing duolingo it's my good habit and people around me stopped me from interrupting me while I'm clicking lessons being with them xd Or I just get with years not so surrounded by people and engaged by events as I was before at university xd Finally I have too much time for duolingo courses hehe Any thoughts?
Cograts, started using duolingo 3 days ago, hope to maintain that streak. :)
