OAIM: Free Online Couse for Irish Music in Multiple Languages

OAIM is the Online Academy of Irish Music. You can subscribe for free and have access to all the lessons for all instruments. The reason why I am posting this here on Duolingo is because the offer Tin Whistle for beginners in German and French, as well as Guitar Accompaniment in French. The rest of the lessons are in English.

This IS in fact free. Sign up link

Also, if you would like to start playing irish music, the tin whistle, aka penny whistle, is very cheap, you can get a beginner one for $5-10 bucks.

The subscriptions are not free. You can check out the first lesson of each course once you created an account and get a 7 days free trial. But to take a full course, you have to pay around $20/€16 per month. With a paid membership you have full access to all the courses.

Just google Online Academy of Irish Music.

I have been using a free account for a month or so now with no issues or payments.

How does that work? I’d love to do that!

The account is generally free, but you don’t have access to all the content. Is that the type of free accunt you are referring to?

Yes, but you still have access to the tutorials, it's just the most of the backing tracks. They also say you only have access to 50 of the tutorials but I don't know how that works. Maybe once I reach 50, you can't watch anymore. Still, 50 is a lot of videos, enough to get started playing for sure.

Only the first one or two lessons of the different courses are free. That’s enough to make you want more, but not enough to learn an instrument or the proper way to play Irish music on it. Not a single course is entirely free.

But it’s a great resource and worth the money if you are interested in playing Irish traditional music.

@FeisGal1: Enjoy it while it lasts! I hope you haven't had to add credit card info when registering and are being charged without you noticing it? I registered so long ago that I don't remember how that works, and by now, they might have changed their process anyways. But for many free trial offers, you have to supply payment info and then cancel before the free trial period expires.

Or maybe you just have the luck of the Irish!!!
(Although the musicians definitely don't make a lot of money, so this online academy seems a great idea to make their lives a bit easier!)

I didn't add any credit card info or anything and I didn't do a free trial, I signed up for the free account so yeah, I think I am just lucky. :)
