Would the preposition phrase "in alltaeglichem Leben" also be legal? Or would a german start chasing me shouting "grammar error!"

I got this comment: Be careful not to confuse "Mathematik" and "Mathe"! I never knew there was a difference. Can anyone explain to me what the difference is?

"Mathe" is the short form of "Mathematik", just like "math" is the short form of "mathematics".
