Chinese (from English): lost the ability to type in translations in Chinese

Recently, using either the app (iOS) or the website, I have lost the ability to type translations from English to Chinese (Mandarin). I used to have the option to either select the characters from a pick list or type directly (type in Pinyin and enter the returned characters).

Is this a general problem, change in the application itself, or a problem isolated to my account?

Thank you.

I'm having the same issue and it's a big problem because I don't retain the words that way. I learn the recognize the characters, but don't necessarily retain the memory of how to pronounce them. This really is not good...

Typing on the website (the 'use keyboard' button) is still working for me. Can you not type English translations either?

Someone else has recently complained about the same thing, so I don't think you are unique.
It might be an A/B-test; it would be interesting to know whether you lack the typing option in all courses, or whether it is confined to Chinese.

I can type English translations.

I just did a few Italian courses. I don’t have the option to type in Italian or English. However the Italian courses are the very early levels and typing might not be an option at that level.
