The struggle

I think learning polish is really hard. I have used duolingo now for three months and it still feels like I have just learned the basics of the language. How do you find learning polish? I shall continue. It would be great to be able to read polish articles about ski jumping without a translator. Cheers from Finland

To be honest, in school one needs several years to learn another language. Even the native language takes several years to be properly mastered by children.

Even if Duolingo allows one to study each day of the week, it's only normal that it would take long to assimilate, be it Polish or any other language (especially if it's very different from one's native language).

Cheers from France !

Witam, JohanSmedj1!

( ͡~ ͜ʖ ͡°) .......

. Ja, bardzo lubię skoki narciarskie i zawsze oglądam ..... Najlepszym skoczkiem w ubiegłym sezonie był młody Japończyk ..... .Ryoyu Kabayashi ......jest świetnym lotnikiem.....:)

Pozdrawiam z Polski.......Danuta :) ......

I’ve read the article by some linguist, that Polish is supposedly second hardest language in the world. The first is Hungarian. I can’t tell from which perspective though, as Polish is quite easy for Czech or Ukrainian.

I agree. Polish is quite difficult, but I do love the language, so that keeps me wanting to continue learning. I just feel like I can't give up.

Same here, but I am making progress each day. I found a Polish friend who is willing to help me so I type messages to her in English and she answers in Polish, which really helps me see how sentences are built. Learning to understand when they speak will be something for years from now, I am afraid.

I totally agree. It seems like it gets harder, not easier. The swoj/swoje lesson just about did me in.

If you English speaking - it is really hard. German people can better imagine cases. Spanish people could know some polish words- they are similar, and quite similar about the sentences (I am polish, but learn spanish from english, so it is easier to translate first tu polish). I am learning one really hard language for me- Hebrew- so I can undestand that it is really hard to learn something what you can't remember- no rules and difficult to pronunce or to even read. Don't give up. Every day just one step - this is only way. Think more about years not moths and ....
