No more "use the keyboard" option on mobile app

Hello, I've been using Duo for a while on both mobile and desktop. Today while using the app I noticed that I can't type to translate sentences, and I'm forced to use bubbles. Why is that? Was this feature removed or is it just a horrible bug? I seriously hope that the latter is the case. Using bubbles instead of typing is too easy and, in my opinion, not so educative. Can somebody clarify this? Thanks in advance.

I know that there are a few Topics on this subject. I just reported it as a bug. You all should probably report it to get a lot of attention to this subject. I actually won't use Duolingo as long as it isn't fixed. I really want to learn a new language and the word bank is not really supporting thins. Thanks.

On my android phone I am using Duolingo for 2 years now. A few weeks ago I recognised the new option to switch between "Use keyboard" and "Use word bank". This option worked for 1-2 weeks and is now no longer available within the app (only within the website). The "Use keyboard" option is VERY powerful - please try to reactivate this option also for the app!

From my experience with DL this is the first really disappointing aspect of this project idea. It seems that this troubleshooting forum has no working moderator because there is no response... and the sane seems to apply for the support.

I solved the problem using the web version of DL instead of the app, but then the audio doesn't work well on my device...

I just noticed this too. On the Android app.

I had it set to use the keyboard all the time. I find it more challenging.

It will be disappointing if the the option to use the keyboard does not come back.

My solution is to use DL via the internet; here you have the option of "use keyboard". Unfortunately the audio doesn't work well, when I use the web version...

Therefore I would prefer to use the app, because it has also other advantages to me....

Maybe later that feature will get added back into the app. I prefer to use the app to review what I have already covered. And continue my next lesson in line on the website. Its easier to type on the Ipad vs the Iphone for me. As a big keyboard on my Ipad. Changes with the app and website will be fine with some and not so fine with others.
