A sound: "hey" or "direct a"

Hey guys! I have a question and I'd really apreciate if you could help me with it :D

I'll give you two examples:

The computer is a technology device. A parent is a family member.

I already heard some people saying "hey" and "a" (closed "a") when comes the letter "A", so should I say:

The computer is "hey" or "a" technology device? "Hey" or "a" parent is "hey" or "a" family member?

I hope you guys understand what I meant! Please, help me ;-; Thanks :D

You can say either, it depends on how you want to stress it. :)
