Portuguese Translation - Does anyone need work?
Does anyone have the qualifications to translate english engineering reports in to Portuguese? This would be into southern african portuguese, not brazilian. They will be international level reports with international distribution for a major international organisation.
We are still in tender phase so not for certain yet, but I need a cost. It would be 3 or 4 reports, from 50-150 pages each. Lost of diagrams and maps so the quote should be per word, not page
I may know somebody who can do the translations. What kind of qualifications do you need to have? This person I have in mind is a native portuguese speaker who studied translation (portuguese/english/spanish)
Contact me on firstname.lastname@example.org for more info :)
If we win the tender, it will be 5 reports. The person must be able to translate technical reports, so a basic scientific degree will help. Most translators cannot translate technical as they have no grasp of the subject matter, so in many ways a person who understands the material in english and can translate to another language is preferable to a professional translator who doesn't follow the meaning and subject matter.
I have sent you an email describing the work.
Thanks. I am aware of the problem in translation since I am a reviewer for an international professional journal and I can see when a foreign person used a professional translator rather than someone in that profession. Many of the technical terms are wrong and sound really funny, so it doesn't read well. I am wary of professional translators without the proper background.
