What would make the Chinese course more effective

大家好! I am working with the Chinese course. As opposed to many other languages, there are 3 'dimensions' to consider: (1) the Chinese character, (2) the pinyin transsription and (3) the (English) translation.

Now what I am missing is that mostly only 2 of those 'dimensions' are offered for the various tasks:

1) If Chinese text is given (to be translated to English) the mouse-over shows only suggestions for English translations of characters - or groups of characters. I would be extremly helpful to provide the pinyin as well. This should be no big deal to implement

2) In the 'match the pairs' excercises, Chinese characters are to be matched with their respective pinyin's. This is fine, but sometimes unknown characters appear, and the learner is given not indication as to what they mean. Mouse-over text could provide the translation.

3) Besides I would find it helpful to learn characters in their common combinations of 2 characters, rather than as single characters.

wenn die beispielsätze von zwei oder drei verschiedenen stimmen gesprochen würden wäre das lernprogramm abwechslungsreicher und besser die langsam gesprochenen beispielsätze klingen oft oder immer gar nicht so als ob sie ein mensch spricht.das ist ein schönheitsfehler des programms der leicht korrigierbar wäre für das zusammenmontieren von vokabeln aus schriftzeichen und für das erkennen der schwer zu erlernenden töne sollte duolinguo auch punkte vergeben.

When you have to speak a frase the app often doesn't give you enough time if you are a little bit slow.

On the other hand you can pronounce more than half of the syllables wrong and it will still count as correct.

It would be be better if this was balanced a little bit differently.

I signed to contribute for this course a few months ago and so far, I didn't get a follow-up at all saying I was either accepted or denied. Is there a specific reason that I didn't get a follow-up, like there's already a lot of people contributing to the course, or you have to have the golden owl in that course?? I would love to take some time to even help make the course better.

install firefox plugin for Chinese dictionary, then you get the mouse over popup. besides this, I agree that there should be pinyin as well.

So, this is a radical idea, how about a "draw-box" where you draw the character for the word? One of the things nagging me about the Chinese course is that the characters are all quite complex and somehow I think learning to hand-write it would be beneficial.
