Can you add Yiddish?
:) I would love to learn Yiddish on here.
There has been a Yiddish course in the incubator for several years. See https://incubator.duolingo.com/courses/yi/en/status Whether it will ever get finished and released is an open question.
I am very pleased with your opinion. I am interested in learning Yiddish and specially Aramaic too. I wish these two languages could be added to the courses.
Please if anyone can help us in this regard.
Oh and you can find learning materials @ https://shop.yiddishbookcenter.org/collections/yiddish-textbooks (it's not really textbooks, but "learning materials". They have a colloquial Yiddish with audio book that looks interesting).
You can get Chassidic yiddish https://www.memrise.com/course/1120518/chassidish-yiddish-complete-with-some-audio/
and Modern Yiddish courses, https://www.memrise.com/courses/english/yiddish/ , on Memrise (the mom says they're mutually intelligible, mostly, but not the same)... LSadun is right about the incubator, they have been offered more help and have refused it (or ignored it), so I'm not sure what that's about). I don't know which version of Yiddish they are even working on... (again, they're mostly mutually intelligible, but not the same.. even the non-Orthodox versions... ) You might want to look into the Memrise courses in the Interim...
I'm another person who wants to learn Yiddish! Can't we contact the Duolingo staff to alert them that the creators are completely inactive and we need to kick them out and put in people who will actively work on it? Seems unfair that they've essentially claimed dibs on the course and then just sat on it. And I don't mean anything bad by this, they probably have life problems getting in the way and so on, but they should hand over the course to someone who has time to work on it...
