4.11/5.00 on my spanish quiz.

so ive been on duo for about eight months. im level 15 in spanish as you all can see. i have about eight skills left to finish, i just finished the subjunctive/imperative skill. I thought i would spend some lingots and take a quiz to see where i stand.

how do i stand up to the rest that are nearly finished with their tree?

Hey, does the quiz tell you what you need to improve on after you finish? I don't wanna waste my time if it's not diagnostic.

i wish it gave some feedback too but it doesnt. what it does do though is remind me that i have been cheating a lot. there are no underlined words that i can mouse over while doing the quiz.

No, it just gives you the score. But I still think it is worth it.

It definitely is. I just took it for the fourth time since starting on the site (48 days -- the first week was french), and I've gone from a 1.29/5.0 to a 4.41/5.0. :)

Probably just depends on personality. I'd be frustrated. "Okay.. so I missed this many points... on what?"

I've been avoiding the quiz for that very reason. I know I wouldn't do as well as I wish and the result would just be frustration. Still, sometime soon, I'll have to risk it....

Same for me. Anyway from the practice I know I do not know everything well so it is a better gauge of what I know and what I need to work on.

Totally agree - I completed it in high 4's but found it a bit pointless because i didn't know what I had answered correctly or incorrectly. Other level skills I have done give a score sheet at the end. an example http://www.spanish-test.net/spanish-test.htm

http://diplomas.cervantes.es/en/general-information/level-a1.html is a good but long test that should give an idea if you have basic understanding down. (And if you do well, it then might be worth spending the money to take the actual test so you have a real credential that says you know the language.) http://ave.cervantes.es/prueba_nivel/registro/test_de_clasificacion.php?origen=webAVE is an online version of the same thing in terms of getting an idea of how you compare against European standards for language mastery.

Amen to that, Amodia. I actually know someone from Honduras...but haven't said a lick of Spanish to him. Maybe ten years from now. ;)

Not a waste, but not diagnostic. If everyone got itemized results the test would soon lose value, validity. Imagine how long the ACT, SAT, GRE tests would have value if they were not kept somewhat secure. ;)

All of those have booklets of pre-tests designed to help you figure out where you stand for the actual test though, so I figured this quiz might have something similar now that we have (or will have, in the case of Spanish) the Duolingo Test Center.

Congrats :) I had 3.96 about 1-2 weeks ago. I had maybe 10-12 skills left to do, so I'd say you,re pretty good.

I have about 20 or so lessons to go. But I took some spanish in high school. Just re-teaching myself a lot of this. No te preocupes!

Could be worse. I took it after completing the tree and two months of classes, and did worse than when I took it a month ago. :( I just do not use these phrases.

Good job! I got 4.45/5.00 and am about halfway down my tree. (I took a little bit of Spanish in school though.)

https://www.duolingo.com/PeteBerardi

thats really good! i finished my tree and am doing immersion. i figure a month or so of keeping my tree golden and doing sentences should be enough to get it up a little.

I took the quiz thinking my previous Spanish learning (pre Duo) would pay off..... Well I learned a hard lesson. The test is def not diagnostic but worth the time. Here's a Lingot Pete B. for your accomplishment!!!
