Enjoying the stories

Generally I try and do the lessons - so enjoy checking out the light bulb before I plunge in. But then sometimes I reward myself with a story. I am native English and learning Spanish. Just finished Una Boda Mas. It brought a smile to my face and I was almost close to "happy tears". Thanks Duo, I am learning so much.

They are fun, aren't they, and there's so many of them. Real people are doing the voices, which is a pleasant change from the text-to-speech mechanical voices in the lessons.

I do my Duo on the computer, not phone, most of the time - I try and answer questions first and then if there is a word I don't know - I hover over it. I love the learning and so glad you too think stories are fun.

I could not agree more. The stories are probably the best thing on Duolingo for me, aside from the actual trees, I guess. They're so well done and they're actually GOOD. You would expect them to be crappy monologues with no entertainment value (Duolingo is a learning site after all) but they are legitimately funny and entertaining.

Keep it up, Duolingo. You can't please everybody, but you sure can write stories.

It is in Set 9 - fun story. Congrats for more than one learning set - I'm only learning Spanish at this time.

Well that is good. I am just doing one language at a time. I am enjoying the Spanish and have finally got the discipline to do a little daily

The more you read, the faster you will become fluent. This is because your brain wants to connect things together in context.

I highly recommend that, just because you have finished a story and it is now golden, does not mean that you cannot go back and read it again. Or even ten times. That is completely acceptable and even desirable to help you get fluent faster.

Keep up the good work!

I couldn't agree more! The stories are great! Does anyone know how to clear or reset them all?
I know you can go back and do it over any time, but I'd like to do them all again in order. I do hope they make some more stories!

I love the stories! I’ve done all 19 Spanish sets and cannot wait for more! They don’t replace the regular lessons, but are a great added bonus.

What sometimes happens is that they modify one of the stories after you finished it. A fully completed story will have a gold color and a star in the bottom right corner. If the story got modified for some reason, the color will still be gold, but there won't be a star. Check all the completed ones in level 1 and make sure they have the star. If one or more is missing, you'll need to redo it before you can move on.

I too love the stories. I am reading beyond my comprehension level so I end up using the “...........” dictionary...I occasionally learn a new word and I am sure to get a laugh! We need more stories at each level, please?
