What's wrong with "we visit the speaker in the forum"?

Nothing. It should be accepted.

How about: "We go to see the orator in the forum." Cicero is speaking today--no one wants to miss that!!

A public speaker = politician. One trained in rhetoric, the art of persuading others to your viewpoint.

I'm glad it's not just me

The speaker has a very strong Germanic accent. ”Oratorem” and ”visitamus” sound like ”orathorem” and ”visithamus”.

Why! Again this impossible audio voice!

The first time coming across oratorem I tried to think of what orator could potentially mean, relevant to speech - and what came to mind was "Words-smith"!

Replace this speaker. The last word sounded like "visitas" to me

She has a noticeable "sing song" diction but a greater problem seems to be the poor recording environment and/or that the audio data is compressed to the point where it's difficult to understand her.
