1 Year Later: 169 Streak, Level 25, Full Gold Danish Tree
After more than an year (and a long break), I've completed my golden Danish tree at 100% strength. Because of the XP cap, the Level 25 was hard to get, but it's been very worth it. I stopped around Level 17 last year after I got busy with school again, but ever since the beginning of my 169 day streak (almost 6 months ago), I've been working on my Danish every day.
This is one of the first Danish discussions I was in: https://forum.duolingo.com/comment/28139628
And here's a post I made 4 months ago when I completed my tree at Level 1: https://forum.duolingo.com/comment/31578260
Again, I have to thank my Danish club leader (whom I have lost contact forever) for his incredibly inspiration. I'm a sprinter, not a marathoner so sticking to something for this long is unbelievably difficult (I have the Germans to thank for teaching me consistency). @jegviltaledansk was one of the first Danish learners I saw on the forums. That was an year ago, and he's still going strong. I also have to thank the WinterSoldier for inspiring me to keep my streak. The way he lost his streak but picked it right back up and kept going (He has a 72 day streak now!).
For the future, I plan to finish a 200 day streak (nearly doubling my 108 day streak from when I was doing the German tree last year). I would like to take Dutch next, but that seems like a little too much right now. Outside of Duolingo, I will be focusing on learning Norwegian in real life (I'm attending a class that focuses on speaking, listening and conversational. Sometimes script is not even allowed) and writing to some amazing penpals in Norway. Of course I would love to continue my very imperfect German studies, but right now, I haven't found any German friends or classes.
What do you mean by XP cap?
I speak German so you could practice with me. Duolingo doesn't have a chat system to talk (in writing) to other users, does it? You can e-mail me at monika.krug at gmail dot com.
What is your motivation for learning German, Danish, Norwegian? I do Danish just for fun and for being able to read Danish + Swedish + Norwegian afterwards probably.
You used to get the full amount of XP for how ever many lessons you tested out in that level. z.B I test out level 4 which has 15 lessons (now they changed it to percentage so it's hard to tell how many lessons there are). You would get 150 points for passing the test. Now the maximum you get is 20 points.
I'm learning these languages for many different reasons, but I'll name one each. German: because of the film „Under Sandet". Danish: because it sounds so cool! Norwegian: because of my little sister.
Thanks for the offer! I'll definitely take you up on it.
Please feel free to correct my Danish above, I'm certain I've made multiple mistakes. Tak!
Well done! There are a few minor things but it is definitely understandable.
