when I learn a new language, I like watching movies or tv series in that language in order to improve my skills. so I wanted to watch something in danish, but I've heard that the danish never dub foreign movies (and I guess that is why they're very good at english lol). so I was wondering, is there a way for me to watch danish movies with english/italian subtitles? and also, which movie would you recommend to someone who has just started learning the language?
Broen maybe? It's a popular Swedish Danish detective series around the Øresunds Bridge. Not really my cup of tea but I've heard very positive feedbacks from other friends.
You can also watch shows marketed to children, I'm sure most Disney movies have been dubbed into Danish. They're also easier to understand for learners.
April 9th, and Hvidstengruppen are two of my favorite Danish movies with english text under.
I have a few danish-learning friends, and they like the series "Rita" which is on Netflix. It is of course not a movie, but it is very funny, quirky, and does portrait Danes very well too.
I find ‘family’ based movies are easier as the language tends to be less complicated. There’s a Danish movies series: “Far til Fire” which is subtitled both English or Danish (and others) via Netflix. Alternatively I’m with DragonNights, the sit-com series, “Rita” is also good. A is a little more complicated in my opinion but still fairly simple.
