Entered text disappears

When I write an answer the last word disappears from the text box and marks the answer as incorrect. Is anybody else having this issue?

Yes, I am also having this issue, and thank you for reporting it. It's very irritating, although it only seems to occur with certain language pairs (I'm having it with Turkish just right now, yet when I did Esperanto a few hours ago, it was fine). As you say, it's just the last word that's affected, but that's enough to turn a right answer into a wrong one!

There is a simple workaround - add an extra space at the end. This step should not be necessary, but I have found that it solves the issue. Of course, you have to remember to add the superfluous space at the end, which I don't always do!

Just out of curiosity, do you use the DuoKeyBoard plugin? I'm wondering if it could possibly be tied to that (the plugin can get a bit funky when Duolingo does an update that doesn't agree with it). Also, what's your browser? For me, the problem is occurring in Firefox. I don't tend to use other browsers, although like all Windows users, I have Edge, and also Google Chrome, but I only use those as backup browsers.

For me, this sporadic bug only started a week or so ago, so it must be tied to an update that was done around then.

But if you can remember to add an extra space at the end of your sentence, that will fix it. Meanwhile, I hope someone on the Duolingo staff sees this thread and sorts it out properly.

Yes, it's the DuoKeyboard plugin. Disabling it makes the problem go away.

I have reported the issue to the plugin developer. Hopefully he'll fix it in a few days or something.

New discovery: the bug actually deletes your LAST CHANGE, not the last word of the sentence per se. (Although usually your last change IS the last word.) I realised this when I was preparing to submit an answer on a Danish exercise a short while ago and saw that I had typed the English "are" instead of the Danish "er". This was the second word in the sentence rather than the final one. So I corrected the mistake, and then hit "Check". My "er" correction was undone and the erroneous "are" was restored, and so I got the answer wrong! Very annoying when I had spotted and fixed my mistake, but also helpful in potentially narrowing down the exact nature of the bug.

I guess that's why adding the space solves the issue for now. The space counts as your last change. So it gets deleted instead of the last word you typed in!

As far as I can tell, this only happens when typing into a target language (because then the DuoKeyboard plugin kicks in). Typing into English isn't a problem, although I have noticed that when I start a new lesson, the last sentence I typed in the previous lesson will be copied over. That's a rather more minor annoyance though.

Thank you all guys to find out, what makes this issue. I have this same problem on russian course. I am using Firefox and DuoKeyboard too. So I hope they will fix it as soon as possible. In meantime i will use extra space as last word. I hope it helps. Thanks for your help.

If you update the plugin to the latest version, the issue is now fixed. Many thanks to Nullbrain, the developer, for fixing this!
