It just accepted "Five boys live at home" from me, 3 October 2019.

This "The" mentions that we are talking about known ones.

I swear I am hearing the w sound of viri and not hearing the hard p for pueri in this audio sample, and I've listened to it several times. scratches head

You are right. Audio samples are very poor. But there are some problems with any thing around us. And this is one of them

Does not accept 'Five boys live at home', which is also a correct translation.

In almost all the sentences the ignore the endings... I have also been doing Henley Latin and they teach the endings better but I like how Duolingo teaches word you would use in modern times.

The audio is appalling, plus each speaker has a different pronunciation!

Not sure about this not being a native speaker of Latin, but the "u" in pueri sounds a little too long compared to the way pueri was pronounced in other recordings. I reported it.

domi habitat - should be domum habitat. There are no instances of domi habitat in Classical literature, and indeed only one of domum (habitaturus) [Seneca iunior ep.70. 11.6] The idea is that one “frequently holds” the house, not that one “frequently holds” something at home

Could you explain why, a bit confusing for a beginner.

That is very redundant. We all live at home. hahaha
