Duolingo is allowing me to speak to my Grandma :')

I have a grandmother who doesn't speak a word of English, only Russian. I used to speak Russian fairly fluently but didn't practice over the years and eventually forgot most of it. However, I recently discovered Duolingo Online (I use it for my Spanish class as well). Now Russian is finally coming back to me, and I can be able to talk to my grandma! Thank you so much Duolingo, this means the world to me. Spasiba!

I love these wonderful language stories and how they fix broken families. I am glad that duolingo has aided you to speak with your grandmother.

Really?, that is amazing, I used to study English when I was at the university, but when I started to work I can´t spend more time studying English, so I forgot it, right now I am studying again and this is very useful

Wow, so many languages you are studying... can you actually keep track? Do you remember what you learn?

I am studying English, I use those languages to learn English, it is Spanish vs English, Portuguese vs English, French vs English, Italian vs English... but, I can read Spanish (My mother language), Some Italian, Portuguese and French texts because those are Latin languages.

And I study Esperanto and Norwegian because they are very easy, I was studying Korean on Coursera, they have very good teachers, and I don´t remember everything, I can´t remember words easily.

That's great! Glad to hear it is helping remind you.

I am picking up the language fairly quickly between lessons on here and interaction with Russian speaking friends.

I understand how you can lose your understanding of the language, I used to live in Holland and my understanding of the language is going downhill quite quickly.

Some people live all their lives in their countries, but at the same time they know no more than a couple of hundred words in their native language.
