This would mean more towards "id (est) pavo" or "hoc (est) pavo".

Why should it be wrong to translate, "It is peacock"? That actually is a sentence I can imagine saying, if someone is eating a meal and asks, what is this? "Est pavo": it is peacock. I've flagged this twice. Am I wrong?
