Free! “French in Action” video series

“French in Action” has 52 episodes which are essentially 100% in French (excluding the introductory episode). The series was designed as a French immersion experience for high school and college students.

This series was produced by WGBH and frequently aired on PBS beginning in 1987.

I think that the series was/is justifiably loved by many French students. The only drawback is that the videos may only be available for viewing in the U.S. and Canada

It's a great series. I did a year of it back in college and ended up in France afterwards. I was surprised by how much I could say at that point.

Yes. For once I feel fully justified in having downloaded a torrent many years ago with all the 52 videos, all the audio files, the textbook and the workbook, which I just couldn't get here in Australia. It's a brilliant course. Too good to allow it to fade from public knowledge.

Have a lingot - good link, even if I can't use it!

For those who aren't in the US or Canada, I think most (if not all) of the episodes are on YouTube. (The complete course comes with textbook, audio and workbook, but the video episodes are still worthwhile without them).

"French in Action" is a wonderful learning resource. Amazon.com still sells the accompanying text and workbooks.

A decent VPN should allow you to get around any issues caused by location

It's really effective. What you learn on FIA sticks with you for years afterwards because of the way it's taught.

That's awesome to hear! I watched the first lesson last night, and I don't think I'll ever mix up 'vais', 'va', 'vas', and 'allez' ever again.

Cool. Yeah, it really helps to embed these things in your memory when they're demonstrated again and again in vivid situations (and film snippets and cartoons too). Great course.
