Pronunciation error of words with the letter "r"

Lately there is a strange pronunciation error in French (English as base language). I'm using the android app version:

Sometimes words with the letter "r" are pronounced as if they would be American English and not French. It usually happens when you click on a word to listen to it again. As an example the word "leurs" sounds very odd. Did anybody else recognize this error?

haha. yes leurs is the one. Many have commented about it. It sounds to me like Dublin meets Birmingham. Listen to Dexy's Midnight Runners and you'll hear the same sorts of sounds.

Yes, this effect started when they replaced the old female voice with this new one!

It pronounces it correctly when the word is said in a sentence, so most of us simply ignore it.

Yesterday I stumbled over "sortir" which also sounds terrible. It seems that the "ir" sound is also quite troublesome.
