Poor quality audio recordings

Is anyone else disappointed with the quality of the audio recordings? The sound like they were recorded with a cheap webcam mic. I'm used to the French tree, which has great high quality audio. Is there any chance they will re-record the audio some day?

I'm a retired audio engineer, so sound quality really tickles my ears...

The sound like they were recorded with a cheap webcam mic.

Maybe that's all they had at their disposal.

I've been using an HP laptop for a year now and its sound quality (especially for music) is totally lame, even if you plug in closed headphones. But until I get more space for a desktop with better sound card, there's not much I can do about it.

The problem is we have very good equipment, but we had to find coaxial cable long enough to reach 1st century Neapolis. That's why they didn't come out the best.

Unless your computer is 30 years old your soundcard should be totally sufficient to play a single stereo track. Sounds like you need a better set of headphones.

Sound quality is good for the other courses because the vast majority of them have TTS voices. French is one such course.

Latin, as you may have noticed, doesn't have a TTS voice.

Sound quality will be (relatively) low as long as a good-quality synthesized voice cannot be made for the Latin course. The reason why we like as not shouldn't expect one was explained in a different post. (I can try to hunt it down if you would prefer.)

I've found that some TTS voices have so bad sound quality (especially the male Dutch voice that they had introduced at some point. I don't know if they still have it.

in short: Best TTS in town is the Latin mbrola voice for eSpeak. Results are mediocre .... oh and you need macrons.

I was surprised that there were audio parts to Latin. Perhaps when DL moves beyond beta the quality will increase.

Duo audio quality needs work. Often it's difficult to differentiate between vowels. Better enunciation would be welcome.
