This sentence can be translated in two ways: 1. Many schools are in Rome. 2. Many games are in Rome. Both are correct since the word for school and the word for game are the same in Latin. Ludus means either school or game. Since this sentence has no context, it can be translated either way.

It can also be translated "There are ..." which would sound more natural
