:) nice question. First of all accents are no dialects. So there's southwest accents - I really know about them because I'm living there :) as "der badische Akzent", "schwäbischer Akzent" and I think there's an accent more south from Freiburg. Also SouthWest there's people speaking "Pälsisch" from the area called Pfalz. Then there's accents in Bavaria: "Bayrischer Akzent", "Fränkischer und oberfränkischer Akzent" then there are the general east accents, the accent in Hessen (the dialect is called "hessisch") about the accents in north Germany I can't say much. The only thing I know about it, is that in Hamburg they speak "Platt" :) Ah, and the most important accent of course is "Badisch" :P (Just because I'm from Baden ;D) I hope I could answer your question this way :)

@YourDeKay oh I totally forgot ;D... but who speaks "Hochdeutsch" without any accent? I don't think there's anyone out there ;P
