I have been studying Latin for three years and i am quite fluent in it, i even use it for discussions during class, this is a good practice for me, i like it and will recommend it for anyone who wants to learn or practice.
Well, it certainly can be a mother when you're learning it. ;)
[Added] But the mother of the languages? No. that was Swedish. See 8:53 into the video, " . . . ostendit linguam Sueticam esse originem non modo linguae Latinae, patet, sed omnium linguarum" [he (Rudbeck] demonstrated that Swedish is the source not only of Latin (that's obvious), but of all languages]. ;)
