Why not "An unhappy girl sleeps"?

It should be correct as Latin doesn't have articles, so as long as it makes sense, either "A/An or The" should be allowed.

My answer was "a wretched girl sleeps" and it was accepted, but I got the message "you have a typo". Suggested solution: "AN wretched girl sleeps"
