Holandee is Dutch?

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/AmineHadji1

Yes, it is. It comes from هولَنْدا /hoo.lan.daa/ = Holland (which refers unofficially to the Netherlands)

Yes. The name of the country is Holland or The Netherlands. The people and their language are called Dutch.

I wanna know what's up with the names here. I haven't heard a single arabic name since I started this course. I got this one wrong cause I thought she said Saif, not Seth.

it will get better... I guess the point here is to familiarize you with the writing system and connect the letters to "words" you already know

Alif does not connect to the next letter and laam does not connect to previous letter

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/BubDuck

Usually laam does connect to the previous letter. Waw never connects to the next letter so this is the reason that laam does not connect to the previous letter in this word.

Autocorrect is not my friend...

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/MichelleDa878143

Try hitting the space after your last word. It'll give you a second to see if Autocorrect is going to change your words.

How do you differentiate between alif and laam when written?

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/MichelleDa878143

Alif does not connect to the next letter, laam does.

Laam is more like L in other direction..ل

Alif is more like number 1 .. أ

Duo doesn't recognise Holland as part of Dutch

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Sophia_Eressea

Rather, Duo cancels the other provinces from the Netherlands.
