French Children's Shows

Growing up as the oldest of 5, I've been watching kids shows my whole life. Currently I have a 2 year old brother who is learning to speak which got me to thinking that shows made for toddlers, in French, would actually be pretty beneficial when I'm not studying since the dialogue is much simpler and "dumbed down" so to speak. Plus they don't talk a million miles a minute which makes them easier to follow.

After a quick Google search I found this awesome site providing free episodes of various shows http://www.tiji.fr

Not sure if you guys are interested, but I figured I'd share it here. If you're going for the immersion style of learning and are beginner/intermediate I feel as if these are much easier to grasp, without subtitles, than full length French films (not that I don't love french films)

There's one here that's also in Spanish. It's called 'Caillou', if you want to try it.

That's a good advice! And if you feel confident enough to move on to harder stuff, but not quite there yet with regular movies, start with animes (like Disney's) : most of them are intended to be understood by children and actors only have to concentrate on their voice, so they articulate way better than if they have to shoot people or drive a car at the same time ;-).

Great suggestion. I've been doing the same thing with reading: I can't read Balzac or Zola yet, so I've been reading children's lit like Le Petit Prince, Le Petit Nicolas, and BD's like Tin Tin and Asterix. I'm going to take a look at the site, I think it will be a good thing to watch. Listening and understanding spoken French is still, for me, the most difficult skill to acquire. This should help.

I went to this site and watched some of the videos. Sometimes I had to listen twice, but I got it. Next, I clicked on one of the links because it said "recipes," and the food looks so good!!! I want to try to make some. Merci!

Thanks! I've been looking for something like this that our Spanish Teacher said and I thought it would work for French too. To watch kid's shows in that language.
