yan and ‘etlh

Is there a difference between yan and ’etlh, which as far as I understand translate to sword? And more generally, is there a good resource of first resort to look up subtleties of meaning like this? Thanks so much as always.

The word 'etlh actually means "blade", but I think the standard blade that Klingons imagine are types of swords. yan refers specifically to swords and cannot generally be used to refer to knives, spears, and other kinds of blades that would not be considered swords. The definitions in the boQwI' mobile app are not explicit about the difference, but you can get the idea from the differences in their definitions. The definitions at hol.kag.org are more explicit and include some extra information that makes it very clear.
