That Practise Rate, Though
Anyone else out there finding themselves going back and practising a lot of skills in order to restore your gold status? I feel like most days that's what I'm doing vs. continuing to progress through my language tree. I guess the answer is to let it go and come back when I'm ready, but it feels like another ask after that last update... :'/ I could deal with a lot of my 'finished' exercises being wiped, I decided it was a good opportunity to refresh what I'd learnt (and it HAS been!) but the "cracking" is continuous and frustrating (especially when Duolingo is going all in on the "gamification" thing)
You can just ignore them, it does not effect anything in your tree. But there is one thing else - the spaced repetition. In two words you need to repeat what you know after a while or you'll just forget it. It does not matter how good and clearly you know it now. After some time your cache will be revised.
It effects my heart :P My sense of accomplishment! I understand the need to review; I've been seeing the positives of doing so for sure! But at this rate it feels like I'm hardly being given time to forget the material. I will just have to let it go.. :/ But I suppose in this crowns/gold system it doesn't feel particularly rewarding to do that
About 2 weeks ago, I was halfway through the EO tree (all gold up the the 3rd checkpoint). Then my tree was updated and more than half of my skills reverted back to purple (lowest level) while about a third remained gold. Weird. Since then, I haven't actually advanced up the tree, I've just been re-gilding the skills I'd already made to gold. It will be another month before I get back to where I was in September.
I could test out each one and go faster but whatever. I'm still on track to complete the tree before the World Congress in Montreal, summer 2020.
