Okay, did the Romans have this preoccupation with drunk parrots, or is this somebody working for Duolingo?

Parrots is a metaphor for people who talk too much, namely drunk people.

I think you've just solved the mystery of the Latin Duolingo course

OH MY FEKENITUS DEUS

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/EnriqueMid2

I think its just a reference to the Duolingo parrot (Duo)

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/AngelicRodentia

But Duo is an owl...

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/ErlendBron

That is one very green owl...

Forte psittacus ebrius Carthage delet

Ceterum censeo Carthaginem esse delendam

By chance, huh? Well this explains why the parrots are being sacrificed.

"Luckily" was not accepted

As "forte" gives us "fortune" and "fortunately" I get your point. I think the sentence misses the mark. It should be "By bad fortune/bad luck etc". Unless, of course, it was the desired outcome of the speaker to burn the house down. "Disasterously" might work, as it comes from "bad stars". What do you think?

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/gsp732649

not sure but i think the meaning is more like possibly than fortunately.

Did the parrot tell you that?

Seriously, I think Dualingo or Romans don't like parrots. For sure.

    https://www.duolingo.com/profile/andy623354

Oh now I've got it THATS the reason why drunk parrots are the worst animals
