As "forte" gives us "fortune" and "fortunately" I get your point. I think the sentence misses the mark. It should be "By bad fortune/bad luck etc". Unless, of course, it was the desired outcome of the speaker to burn the house down. "Disasterously" might work, as it comes from "bad stars". What do you think?
