The meaning of a word (اِلَيْكَ)

I hope this is the right place to ask. I have been studying some dua's and stumbled upon a word that I would like to know the meaning of: اِلَيْكَ If I am not mistaken, fonetically it is written as 'ileyk'. Does anyone know the definition or translation of this word? The sentence in this context is: وَ نُؤْمِنُ بِكَ وَ نَتُوبُ اِلَيْكَ

Thank you very much in advance!

It means (to you), and in some contexts it can also be translated as (for you).
The meaning of the sentence you've mentioned is: And we believe in you and repent to you.

And it is read as (ilayka). Since it is a Dua then the reader is speaking with God and الله (Allah) linguistically is a masculine noun.

As far as I know, the word ِإلَيكَ (notice ء) consists of two components: إلى (the translation depends; it can mean “to” (indicating direction), “towards”, “into” etc. depending on the context, e.g. a verb (in this case نَتُوبُ) and the suffix كَ.Thus in this context it means “to You” in English. The whole sentence can be translated as follows: “We believe in You and we repent to You.”

Thank you very much for your reply. My friend is called Ileyke (it was taken from this dua). Does that mean - roughly translated - that her name is 'to you'?

I found the following regarding the name اليك:

اسم علم مؤنث أرمني

معناه: موج البحر

English translation:

an Armenian feminine proper noun

meaning: sea waves

Thank you for answering. Do Arabic and Armenian share the same alphabet? I translated the webpage with google translate (I can't speak Arabic) and I think the translation you gave me was for the name 'Alec' (آليك) and not 'Ileyk' (اِلَيْكَ). Is there a translation specifically for the name 'Ileyke' or 'Ileyk'?

No, the Armenian alphabet is completely different.

Both names seem to refer to the same Armenian word ալիք which can be transliterated as “aliq”.
