Aren't the words pretty and beautiful similar??
They are similar but different. "Pretty" is attractive but to a lesser attractiveness than "beautiful". My Webster's dictionary says that "pretty" is "pleasing; attractive: implying daintiness, delicacy, or gracefulness rather than striking beauty".
I would think so! I was counted wrong for chosing beautiful.
My small Arabic dictionary gives جميل/جميلة as the translation of both pretty and beautiful, but in English, they are different.
I hate it because it should say george has a pretty house, george aind, you get me?
A native speaker on another thread said both ways are correct.
