Llevar = to carry (como un objeto), to wear (ropa), to take (a person), to bring. So many meanings! The Duolingo translation is good. You took my friend to the restaurant. Some more examples: I took my girlfriend to the new restaurant last night. I took my parents to the restaurant on my Mom's birthday. I took my nephew to the restaurant when he came to visit. I took my wife to the restaurant because she loves Chinese food.
