Meaning/Usage of "Tha sibh sgìth" - "You are tired"

I stumbled over this phrase a couple of times now but can't really imagine any situation in which somebody would use it, except sending their kids to bed. Maybe it is me not speaking English natively, but it seems almost like a rude thing to say?

Handy as a phrase... examples in English could include I can see that you are tired so I won’t stay long, if you are tired now perhaps we can do this later and in English (not sure for Gaelic) if you are tired of that book let’s do something else. Oh and from men’s cosmetics adverts for anti aging creams you’d say you look like you are tired rather than you look like you are old!
