Any good German TV shows with English subtitles?
If I was learning Japanese I would jump on watching anime with subs, but nope; I'm learning German. Any pointers?
Easy Languages German on Youtube, it's not a tv show but has subtitles. It has both English and German subtitles (frankly I prefer the German). And also go to the Youtube channel Deutsch lernen, there's a tv show on there but it only has German subtitles. Though, it's pretty basic and not hard to follow. That's all I've got, hope it helps!
Might not be your level, but Extr@ Deutsch is bang on for beginners who are not quite ready for "real" TV

Sorry to say, I have found very few online. Mostly I find them if I am lucky enough to find a German language film/TV series on DVD. English speakers tend to have everything dubbed into English or have it remade in English.
The best I could suggest would be to use German language terms when you search. For example to search for +"englischen untertiteln" on Google, Vimeo, YouTube etc.
This is a teaser for the upcoming interview series Marathon Gespräche. The series will be in German with English subtitles. - Das ist der Teaser für die kommende Interview-Serie Marathon Gespräche. Die Serie wird auf Deutsch mit englischen Untertiteln sein.

If ever you want just straight German TV then you could try:
Deusche Welle has a whole section to learn German including with videos and exercises.
I've found that Extr@ Deutsch is good for beginners. Youtube also has lots of children's tv in German such as Pippi Longstocking (with German subs) and Die Sendung mit der Maus. It's juvenile but great for learning because you learn as native children would.
Walter Presents also has lots of foreign language programmes (usually dramas) subbed in English so you can probably find several shows there (along with Deutschland 83) which have an older target audience.
on 4od (channel 4 on demand, in England). You might not be from england so it won't be available. However, if you get a VPN app that changes your IP address to England then it will work. There are loads on the app store, i have used one for about a year and it has been fine. You just have to keep connecting and disconnecting until you get the place you want
This is kind of a dumb question, but do you listen in German and watch the English subtitles? Or read the German subtitles? I find that if I put on the English subtitles, I just space out and read and what they're saying doesn't sink in. But when I put on German subtitles, i'm like "hey, i know a lot of these words!" I couldn't hear them without the subtitles, cause they talk so fast, but once I see them, i can see the word and hear how it's pronounced.
many people suggest Deutschland 83, this is the link: http://123tvseries.co/episode/quantum-jump-subtitles-4453752
language scientists said from their research that watching movies with their original subtitles is better for pronunciation: here is a link:http://www.mpg.de/593363/pressRelease20091110?filter_order=LT&research_topic=KG-SPW
i do that daily with english and i can assure that it improved my english A LOT. however, i'm nowhere near to understanding german with the same degree that i understand english... but i'm still wondering if it would be best to just try to watch german series/movies with german subtitles or watch them with some other language's subtitles. i'm afraid i would miss out a lot of stuff if i did the former...
