Duolingo is the most popular way to learn languages in the world. Best of all, it's 100% free!

just started learning Spanish

I started learning Spanish one week ago today. I have been using Duolingo, Memrise and listening to Coffee Break Espanol. I can't believe how much I have learned in one week!

I am 48 years old and I took French in high school and a few courses in college but I've had Spanish on my bucket list for a long time.

My next goal is to find a native speaker and try to speak with them at least once a week.

Thanks for a great site to learn Spanish in a fun way.

http://www.languagetransfer.org - one of the best things I've done for my Spanish. It's an audio course that gets you thinking in your target language. Every lesson has 'aha' moments. Big update coming soon for it.

italki is great for finding both free language exchange and paid lessons. They also have a great'notebook' feature that has natives correct your writing. Highly recommended. http://www.italki.com/?ref=1084173 - my referral link, if you buy credits for the paid features I get some free. (if this is against duo tos tell me and I'll remove it)

Also check out Señor Jordán en YouTube. His videos are informative and presented in a very interesting way.

I started with Coffee Break Spanish during workout, mostly just for fun (and to kill time). By accident I found DL and was instantly hooked ever since. I finished my Spanish tree a couple of weeks ago, and now I try at least to keep it up (I wrote down some notes today on this discussion: https://www.duolingo.com/comment/3543623). More general help is available on the unofficial http://doulingo.wikia.com/wiki/Doulingo_Wiki page with quite some useful tips.

Good luck and have fun!
