Fi layaalin katamat sirra lhawaa... - song with lyrics

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b91V1cT9llI

I guess this song tells from the love to this region. But I am not really sure about it. I love Arabic songs with Arabic subtitles. I mostly listen to songs with a bit more temperament and a deeper voice, then I can listen to them for hours.

Thank you for showing us different thinks for learning Arabic as well learning more about the way of thinking and feeling of this culture.

I think I recognize the word "layla" from alf layla wa layla. That means "night". I assume that the ending makes it plural: so layaalin is "nights"

Fi is "in", so Fi layaalin is "in nights" or "in the nights" (I recognize fi as the first word of the story of Sindbad: « في يوم هارون الرشيد » because I started trying to read it, but I did not get very far.)

That's all I can figure out so far: "in the nights..."

The melody is exciting, and invites dancing, but I do not know what it means. To me it sounds like a night of partying before a big battle. But that's just what the melody says to me. I cannot understand the words.

Fi layaalin = in nights - if you want to say (in the nights) : fi llayaali

Translation of the first line : In Nights that kept love secret with their darkness if there were not the suns of whiteness

the poet means by Suns of whiteness (شموس الغرر) the beautiful women's faces

Very beautiful! isn't it?

في = in

ليال = nights

كتمت = kept secret

سر = secret

الهوى = love

بـ = with

الدجى = darkness

لولا = if there were not

شموس = suns

الغرر = whitnesses
